Organized by the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York, the parade honored Greek heritage, culture, and the enduring spirit of freedom that unites Hellenes across the globe. Led by General Chairman Philip Christopher and a 35-member committee, the parade featured over 120 groups, 52 colorful floats, and 15 marching bands, representing communities from the New York metropolitan area, across the U.S., and even Montreal, Canada. With the Greek Flag of the Acropolis and the ceremonial Evzones of the Presidential Guard opening the procession, Fifth Avenue came alive with music, tradition, and patriotic pride. This year’s Grand Marshals included General Andrew Poppas—the first Greek American-born four-star U.S. Army General, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras—the city where the Revolution began, and Olympiacos FC, celebrating its centennial and recent 2024 UEFA Conference League victory. Notable Honorary Marshals included acclaimed actor and director Christoforos Papakaliatis of Maestro in Blue and Olympic weightlifting legend Pyrros Dimas. Distinguished dignitaries in attendance included His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Ambassadors of Greece and Cyprus, prominent Greek MPs, mayors, and regional governors. U.S. political leaders also showed support, including Senator Chuck Schumer, Representatives Nicole Malliotakis, Grace Meng, Gregory Meeks, Mike Lawler, and NYC Mayor Eric Adams. Major benefactors such as former U.S. Ambassador to Greece George Tsunis, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Libra Group, and AHEPA played a key role in supporting this year’s event. Their commitment, along with the efforts of countless volunteers, sponsors, and community leaders, ensured the 2025 Parade was one of the most memorable and well-attended in recent history.
