Biking from Chicago into Indiana [4K]

Aug. 27, 2021 - Cycling across the Chicago-Indiana border to Whiting Lakefront Park. To get to the Indiana border I brought my bike aboard an afternoon Metra Electric train south from Museum Campus to South Chicago (93rd). The ride took about 30 minutes. From there I cycled about 10 minutes through Calumet Park to reach Chicago's border with Indiana. I began filming the ride just at the border as I rode towards Whiting Lakefront Park in Indiana. This is quite a strange ride that took me through various parks, beaches, and the Horseshoe Hammond Casino. The majority of the ride consists of dedicated bike paths along the south shore of Lake Michigan. At the end of the ride, you can faintly see the outline of downtown Chicago in the distance. While I took the Metra to the border for this trip, it’s only a 15 mile bike ride that I highly recommend. The route consists almost of entirely of separated bike paths on the Lakefront trail, plus a few bike lanes south to Calumet park.
