In 2023, I cycled solo across Eastern Poland - a journey that genuinely changed how I see this country, its people, and my place here. Over nine days, I rode roughly 750km through some of the most remote parts of Poland, following the eastern border with Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania. I’m not a cyclist, I did the entire trip alone, and I had no real idea what to expect - physically, mentally, or emotionally. This video isn’t a day-by-day travel vlog. It’s a personal story about why I chose to do this trip, what it was like moving slowly through Eastern Poland, and the moments that stayed with me - from military checkpoints and border forests, to unexpected kindness, hospitality, and human connection. If you’re interested in solo travel, cycling journeys or life in Poland beyond the big cities, then I think you’ll get something from this. 🔔 Subscribe for honest, long-form videos about life in Poland, culture, identity, and perspective - from a British immigrant who’s still figuring it out. ---------- Timestamps 00:00 Introduction 01:35 Why did I decide to do the trip? 03:18 Anxious first moments and first learnings 06:44 Stopped by soldiers on the Belarus border 10:46 Being invited in to a stranger’s house 15:33 Reflections on Eastern Poland ----------- The Siematycze hotel mentioned in the video: https://www.podskrzydlamipodlasia.pl/ ----------- Cycling Trip Through Rural Poland Bikepacking in Rural Poland What Eastern Poland Is Really Like Exploring Poland’s Eastern Border Region
