Full disclaimer* …. Yes I was sent the vest to review BUT I was told to pull no punches. To actually tell you guys what I like and what I think Nomad could improve in a new design Now on with the review 👇🏽 The Nomad MG NXT turkey vest ( a mouthful ) is clearly designed for the guy who actually spends a lot of time chasing Longbeards, not just someone sitting in a blind twice a season. It’s a pretty lightweight vest overall, but it still manages to carry a good amount of gear without feeling bulky or overbuilt. First off, the layout is pretty solid. The pockets are positioned where you’d expect them, and it’s easy to keep your calls organized. Box call pocket, pot call pockets, striker sleeves, diaphragm storage — all the basics are there. Nothing revolutionary, but at least you’re not fighting the vest trying to find your gear when a bird is coming in. This is also a drawback at the same time. I really hate when a vest puts me in a box and claims real-estate for me. Forcing me to use a section or a pocket one dimensionally. Give me more (gp) general purpose pouches and magnetic closures to decide where and how I organize my vest. Delete the box call pocket, delete the thermacell storage, and make it more customizable. The MG NXT doesn’t really bring anything groundbreaking to the table. There’s no frame system, no crazy modular setup, and nothing about it that makes you say “this changes how I hunt.” It’s just a vest that works. The seat is super thick but it’s also enormous, taking up almost the entire back of the vest when fully stowed away. Also I wish the straps had a little different feel to them instead of a cheaper fake pleather underneath. Maybe add some air mesh inserts and a built in GoPro mount would be insane details ( maybe one day) For the money is it worth the $160 plus tax & shipping, comparing it to other offerings I’d say yes. Bang for your buck it’s a good vest. Under 200 bucks with that many features is a win most definitely. Plain and simple It’s a solid, practical vest… just not a game changer.
