The Pickwicks – Little By Little …1964 The Pickwicks formed in 1963 in Coventry, England and initially was named Tony Martin And The Echo Four, however a short time later they were discovered by Larry Page who became their manager and changed their name to The Pickwicks.… As The Pickwicks, they cut 3 singles of tough Beat/R&B music. The song featured in this video is from their third single, “Little By Little / I Took My Baby Home”, which was released in January of 1965. “Took My Baby Home” is an early Ray Davies song, originally released as the B-side The Kinks first single 'Long Tall Sally'. Initially The Pickwicks stage gear was top hats and tails, but when they couldn't find anyone to clean them quickly, they gave the image up! …All three of their singles are excellent Beat/R&B offerings, it’s unfortunate that the band split up in mid-1965. The final line up of the Pickwicks was John Miles (vocals and lead guitar), Alan Gee (rhythm guitar), Tony Martin (bass) and Malcolm Jenkins (drums) One final note, several different sources state that Jimmy Page played on some or all of their recording while another source states that the guitar work was provided by guitarist Harry Friar…Whomever it is, he’s great!
