The design of the IWC Big Pilot takes inspiration from the original B-Uhr or B-Watch that IWC, amongst other brands, created in 1940 for the German Air Force. 1000 watches were made by IWC with a pocket watch movement, large 55mm anti magnetique cases, central second hands and hacking mechanisms. The B-Watch was supposed to be large and easily readable for the pilots in low visibility.
