These were IBM's largest 2.5" drive at the time (in both height and capacity). With 5 platters and 10 heads, they're quite the model to say the very least! This one was NOS when I purchased it a while ago. The unfortunate reality was I had no idea it was 17mm high, which made it useless in the machine I needed it for (a ThinkPad T43, via the UltraBay drive adapter, as internally the T43 only accepts 9.5mm drives at most). I had to purchase a different 12mm drive instead, but this one is a drive I definitely don't regret owning, due to how ridiculous it is. Finding good condition IDE 2.5" drives is seemingly a bit more difficult than 3.5" models. But hey, this one works fine. It's horrifyingly loud, as you'd expect with a 5 platter 2.5" drive. I absolutely love the spin-down noise on these, it's really quite close to the desktop models IBM had at the time. Also yes, these aren't exactly speed demons. As usual, I went into more detail about this drive on my site post, which you can find here (with pictures): https://bananahdd.nl/index.php/2023/0... Thanks for checking out the video.
