“Embracing the Magic“ BGM from the movie "My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Legend of Everfree“ based on the television show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." -Overall Comments- “Legend of Everfree” was quite a different movie from the previous Equestria Girls offerings in many ways. It took place outside the school, and felt somewhat more subdued, especially when compared to Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games. Not that it didn’t have its big moments, but compared to the previous movies, it was much more character-focused and dialogue-heavy. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise then that much of the music was also drastically different than the previous three movies. Daniel Ingram and crew went with much less pop and electronic songs, which took up most of the previous soundtracks, and focused more on acoustic and folk. The latter is something that we haven’t really heard from the series before, and as always it’s great to hear it delve into new musical genres. The soundtrack features two acoustic folk songs with the movie’s title and credits numbers, an emotional piano ballad for Twilight, and a more contemporary acousti-pop song from Sunset (her first one included in the actual movie!). Gaea Everfree (aka Gloriosa Daisy) receives a big, bombastic villain song, which sounds like a musical version of the “Imperial March.” And finally, the movie concludes with one electronic dance number in “Legend You Are Meant to Be” where Daniel really busts out his talent of writing catchy hooks. Overall, the songs of “Legend of Everfree” are varied both within themselves, and also from the rest of the Equestria Girls series. The focus on folk and acoustic numbers fits both the story’s setting and change in tone, and while the album might not sport as many songs as Friendship Games, the amount of songs in the movie itself matches that of both it and the first movie: six. William Anderson’s score follows suit with this simpler theme, featuring shorter, more guitar driven folksy score throughout much of the movie. I’m writing this before beginning the extracting process, but when all is said and done, we might actually still have more tracks of score here than all 3 of the previous movies. More emotional cues are utilized where needed, and a little electronic Tron-esque score is used for a few of the Twilight / Midnight Sparkle scenes. The score really shines in the final parts of the movie, with more action-packed tracks for the final battle, some emotional score as Twilight battles her inner demon, and brass-heavy superhero-style music as the Hu-mane 7 (that’s what we’re calling them now, right?) utilize the crystal elements to transform and fight off Gaea Everfree. Now, without further ado, let’s dive into this movie! Lots to cover. -Track Specific Comments- "Embracing the Magic" is probably the biggest and best track from "Legend of Everfree." It's most certainly the boldest and most grand, especially when compared to the more acoustic-driven sounds of many of the earlier tracks. This encompasses the scene of Twilight's embracing of her powers, with the help of her friends, and the final battle sequence with Gaea Everfree. As we enter Twilight's mindscape, the music turns beautiful and inspirational. With a nice mix of piano, strings, and woodwinds, I really love the sound of this part. Twilight embraces the magic inside of her, and the music turns loud and heroic. This is definitely my favorite part of the movie's score, as it's a style of music that we really haven't heard in the series before outside Power Ponies. The brass enters the score, and never turns back here. As the elements go to their holders, a nice arpeggio is played on flute. From there, the score turns into a very heroic march, with more strings/flute arpeggios, and a huge finish! Wow! (Watch in 1080p!) DOWNLOAD: MP3 (320 kbps): http://www.mediafire.com/file/a8ql3mt...
