Kuchipudi, the classical dance tradition of Andhra Pradesh, is known for its clarity of expression and strong narrative style. Once performed exclusively by male dancers, it is now carried forward with equal excellence by women. Among its core works is Bhaamakalapam, composed by Sri Siddhendra Yogi. Today, we present the Bhāma Pravesa Daruvu, the introduction of Satyabhama, one of the central characters of this tradition. Satyabhama — the proud and graceful queen of Dwaraka. She values her beauty, knows her worth, and stands apart from the sixteen thousand women of the palace. Beloved of Krishna and daughter of King Satrajit, she is direct, expressive, and unafraid to speak her mind. Yet beneath her pride rests a heart deeply attached to Krishna. A national award–winning artist, renowned for her mastery, grace, and devotion to Kuchipudi This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
