If you’ve ever experienced a sudden tightness or locking in any part of your body, seemingly out of nowhere, you can say “YES” to the poll below. Ever felt totally fine, then suddenly your back or shoulder just locks up? It’s not random, your fascia, the web-like tissue under your skin, reacts to stress and stillness. Over time, it hardens and “locks” your body. Do you also feel like you’re healthy, and then suddenly, one part of your body just locks up? Then you need to hear this explanation. Fascia is a web-like structure that keeps the body whole and connected. It’s made mostly of water and collagen. Inside, there are tiny cells called fibroblasts, I call them spiders. These little spiders weave networks throughout the entire body like threads. And interestingly, they weave these webs based on how we move. If you’re stressed, they weave it one way. If you’re inactive, they weave it another way. But when you stay in the same position for too long, or if you’re under chronic stress or suppressing it, the fascia starts to harden. That’s why you say things like “Suddenly, my back got stuck,” or “My shoulder froze out of nowhere.” But none of this happens suddenly. Fascia becomes stiff, sticky, and loses its elasticity over time due to lack of movement, stress, or repetitive positions. That’s exactly why I’m here to show you how to keep your fascia alive, flexible, and vibrant.
