Introductory presentation: Protecting creativity –Copyright hand in hand with other IP titles This session examines the cumulation of IP rights from a business perspective, focusing on how some creative sectors leverage multiple IP rights (including copyright) to protect and value their work. Among other, it explores the video game sector, situated at the intersection of innovation and creativity, and how it utilises these rights effectively. Speakers: Estelle Derclaye, Professor of Intellectual Property Law, University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, Ann Becker, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Video Games Europe Testimonies from cultural and creative sectors in Europe A journalist, a music composer, a fashion designer, an actor and a writer offer each a testimony about how copyright is key to their creation, profession and for the public in general, showcasing the impact of technological developments on their creative processes and the exploitation of their works, to then provide their recommendations on the issues the EUIPO Copyright Knowledge Centre should address as a matter of priority.
