Exhaust downpipe wrecked by a bad heat wrap // Project Driftbaru

Our downpipe was destroyed at the last drift day, but it wasn't drifting that killed it. Heat wrapping increases the temperature of the exhaust gas, which increases flow speed and removes heat from the engine area faster. However this heat can cause hotspots and premature fatigue on the metal of the exhaust. This one failed in 4 different places in just under 15000 miles. This is fine if you're in motorsport with money to burn, but for street cars it's probably a bad idea.
