Bin Do-rim and Lee Yeong-hui′s Trip to Meet the Masters of Bamboo In Damyang, Jeollanam-do Province, the city of bamboo, there is a couple who dreams of living a self-sufficient life deep in the mountains. German-born Bin Do-rim is a Korean studies scholar who became naturalized as a Korean in 2005. His wife, Lee Yeong-hui, is a translator specializing in German. Twelve years ago, they packed up their city life and moved to Damyang, where they began the second chapter of their lives, devoted to bamboo, and honey candles. Devoting their time to their candles naturally made the couple curious about other artisans in Korea, and they decide to take a trip to meet master craftsmen. In Hamyang, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, they meet Kim Yun-se, who uses traditional methods to make bamboo salt. They try their own hand at making bamboo salt, and talk about the value of traditional methods. In Damyang, they meet Kim Tae-yun, a craftsman who makes bicycles out of bamboo, and gain inspiration as well as some tips for processing bamboo.
