One of the composer's most well-known creations. This piece started out as a piano solo but Leroy Anderson decided on reflection that 'it needed a little fuller treatment, and it needed an orchestral background' (quoted from the foreword to 'Leroy Anderson at the Piano: complete works for solo piano' published Alfred, 2008). So this could be considered the original version. I have made adjustments to a couple of right hand chords which sounded rather too cumbersome as notated. The theme of nostalgia that characterises the music - looking back on the past with a mixture of longing and satisfaction - has come to be associated with Christmas.
