The approach to the temple is known as "Nakamise-dori". It is lined with more than 80 shops selling crafts, souvenirs and plenty of sweet and savory snacks. Beyond the Hozomon Gate, there are the temple’s main hall and a five storied pagoda. The temple and these area are crowded with tourists from all over the world.
