Don't get me wrong, I'll always be a Metallica fan from early years through The Black Album. A lot of bands morph over time. Oftentimes, I morph with them and enjoy the journey. But for me, I reluctantly purchased The Black album and begrudgingly admitted that I liked 'Enter Sandman' and 'Through The Never'. The rest though, disappointed or bored the fuck out of me. For context, acquiring music like Metallica was not easy. Some indie music stores would carry it, but definitely not at the mall, at Target. There was a mail-in order company called Columbia House where one could get 4-5 records for cheap, and only pay postage. And there were the headshops, too. Can't forget those! Feeling abandoned by Metallica at the time, I drifted. Listened to more Metal Shop on the radio and Headbanger's Ball on M-TV. Noticed that the less commercial content came on later at night, so I forced myself to stay awake to listen. But these outlets introduced me to the likes of Motorhead, Bad Brains, Voivod. And then there was this one band from Belo Horizonte, Brazil that delivered the raw heavy metal energy that had been missing from my life! That is the band I talk about here, and likely in future videos because their timing in my life helped me heal from a bad relationship, dive full-throttle into drumming and be an asset to my band at the time. I also talk about relocating to Mexico and navigating life as a Gen-Xer in other videos.
