Meiliang Watercolors are considered a student grade paint made by the Shanghai company, Aowen, and contracted by Paul Rubens for their student paints. This is the Amazon page title for the set of 36 tubes I purchased on May 4, 2025: "Meiliang Watercolor Paint Set, 36 Vibrant And Bright Colors Watercolor, Excellent Pigment And Spread Watercolor Paint, Portable 5ml Watercolor Paint Tubes, Suitable For Beginners And Artists" Though produced as student grade the majority of paints have vivid colors with fairly dense pigmentation and good transparency. They rewet fairly easily, LIFT EASILY???, blend very nicely and layer well. Frankly, I found this set to be well above student grade on the whole, better, for my purposes* at least, than some of the "professional grade" brands. AND for considerably less money. (I paid $25.99 with a 15% off coupon on Amazon.) The only negative issues for me were the questionable lightfast numbers, the language based typos and the odd (or confused) names used in place of standard colors. The most important of these negatives being their unreliable lightfast ratings & hard to find pigment numbers. It's obvious several colors are going to be fugitive, in vivid colors especially this is not unusual, but since these sets are sold as student grade, that is not really an issue. It's too bad though, because, frankly, I like the colors, the high chroma and how this brand flows on my favorite papers. As for the weird names, I refer to Turkey (???) Blue for a beautiful color that appears to be the mix of a pthalo turquoise with a bit of cobalt green deep mixture. Turkey? I do believe they mixed that up with a peacock. Sky Blue is obviously their name for Cerulean Blue Hue and let's not even mention the reds. ALL IN ALL I wish I could trust their lightfast numbers and permanence, because I found these to be pleasant paints to work with with really quite lovely colors and excellent chroma and transparency, especially when you consider the price point. "Watch Me Swatch & Free Your Chi!" I buy tested, good quality student grade paints often, primarily for use in sketchbooks, for greeting cards, bookmarks & other non-fine art applications. I will also buy papers and card stocks that are not all 100% cotton for the same impermanent end uses. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Please Like, Subscribe & Follow for more Art, Art Chat & Creative Zen from PopArtDiva.Com ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ https://www.PopArtDiva.com https://www.ShopPopArtDiva.com FOLLOW me on INSTAGRAM: @PopArtDiva / popartdiva FOLLOW me on TIKTOK / popartdiva
