This video offers five actionable tips from a psychologist to help you move from presentation panic to calm and confident. Learn how to calm anxiety before a big school presentation with these strategies: Recognize Body Sensations: Become aware of what you're feeling in your body, whether it's a pounding heart, sweaty hands, or a bowling ball in your stomach. This awareness can help you slow down and get out of your head. Evaluate Self-Talk: Identify what you're telling yourself about the presentation. Ask yourself if these thoughts are accurate and helpful. For example, the thought "I'm going to die" is likely not accurate or helpful. Replace unhelpful thoughts with more accurate and supportive ones, like "I've presented before and I can do it again." Visualize Success: Find a private space, close your eyes, and vividly imagine yourself confidently giving a successful presentation from start to finish. Your brain has difficulty distinguishing between imagined and actual actions, making this a powerful preparation tool. Practice Through Exposure: Gradually expose yourself to the presentation scenario. Start small by practicing in front of stuffed animals, then move on to a trusted friend or family member, slowly increasing the scope of your practice. Focus on trusting yourself to speak naturally rather than memorizing a script.
