Why have Jewish people been so dominant in various fields throughout history? And how did Judaism originate? The roots of Judaism trace back to Hazrat Ibrahim (Abraham), who was born in the Sumer region of present-day Iraq around 4,000 years ago. He is considered the common ancestor of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—collectively known as Abrahamic religions. However, Judaism is the oldest among them. The Jewish lineage continued through Abraham’s son Isaac (Ishaq) and his descendants. A turning point in Jewish history came during the time of Hazrat Musa (Moses). The Jews were enslaved in Egypt, and under the oppressive rule of Pharaoh, they suffered immense hardship. To liberate them, Moses led the Exodus, an escape from Egypt, crossing the Red Sea and reaching Mount Sinai. It is believed that at Mount Sinai, he received the Ten Commandments, which became the foundation of Jewish law. Following this, the Jews established their own kingdom, and Jerusalem became their holy city. King Solomon (Sulaiman) later built the First Temple, where the Ten Commandments were safeguarded. However, Jewish history is marked by repeated struggles, including invasions by the Babylonians, Romans, and conflicts during the Crusades, forcing them into exile multiple times. One of the most significant turning points came with the birth of Jesus Christ (Isa Masih). Jesus himself was born as a Jew, but as he founded Christianity, tensions between Jews and Christians escalated. Later, with the rise of Islam, a new chapter of religious conflicts over Jerusalem and the Temple Mount began. Today, Israel stands as the largest Jewish nation, but religious disputes surrounding Jerusalem persist.
