It always makes me wonder did I die because I was suppressed and unable to hit the enemy or because I suppressed them causing their shot to go towards me instead of away from me. Suppression and 3D spotting are two things I've never enjoyed seeing or experiencing in Battlefield. Why in a game with a projectile/ballistics style system where muzzle velocity, bullet drop, etc. exist would you add something that can trigger random chance as to where your shot will really go? Battlefield is already pretty unique in that it still requires you to lead a target when shooting from a distance and if you're also trying to go for a headshot you have to account for bullet drop at the same time. With the current run and incredible strafe speed in the game isn't that enough for an arcade shooter like Battlefield? Is it really necessary to throw in random chance because of "realism"? When there isn't a clear cut way to tell if you are or are not suppressed it's beyond frustrating trying to understand if you missed because of suppression or because you failed to lead the shot correctly. Yes there is always the argument of "just go get to cover and wait for your suppression to clear". But unless DICE is going to put in a Suppression Gauge/Meter that lets us know when it's empty you'll never be completely sure. That and it seems as though everything in the game suppresses you so good luck finding your safe space to get unsuppressed. 3D icons/spotting.....If you are going to put it in the game do it like BF2 where the only 3D icons that showed up were vehicles and they only showed up inside the first person hud of the vehicle you were in. It helped train and direct new players to focus on vehicles when in a vehicle before taking out infantry. Also the 3D person camera in that game did not show 3D spots/icons so you could only see your target's 3D icon on the ground when in the jet if you were looking directly through the HUD. If that isn't possible ( I know it isn't in BF1 ) at the very least limit 3D spotting of infantry to infantry only. Meaning vehicles can only 3D spot other vehicles. The infantry would still show up on the 2D map. That would at least be an improvement assuming all the bugs related to 3D spotting ever got fixed. 3D spotting through smoke was in BF3 and BF4 and even after the many patches by DICE LA it was still possible. Oh and don't forget we don't just have smoke in BF1. There is also gas, fog and many other weather effects that are supposed to block visibility of a player. You can add in new and interesting gun mechanics that are all perfectly balanced on paper but you throw that out the window when you add in a game mechanic like suppression. Can we still not put passwords on rented BF1 servers? I ask because I would have shown better more clear demonstrations of these issues if something like putting a password on a rented server was possible so many months after the games release.
