The Court declared that adoptive mothers are entitled to 12 weeks of maternity leave, regardless of the child's age. This judgment brings attention to the need for equal treatment of adoptive mothers and challenges the existing age-based distinction. The Court also urged the Union Government to introduce paternal leave as a social security benefit for both parents.
