Rites Of Spring ~ Live ~ 10-25-85 @ Washington D.C.

Rites of Spring playing three songs on October 25th, 1985 at the Chevy Chase Community Center. Also on the bill were Bells Of... and Embrace. I've included the first two songs of the set and then the last, "Drink Deep", "For Want Of" and "Patience". First two songs were on their "End on End" LP on Dischord records, while the last song was on their 7" "All Through A Life". I realize this video looks like it was recorded in night vision and the sound isn't the best, but in my humble opinion Rites of Spring were a paradigm shifting band and I think there is just one other live video of them on YouTube. I mean, Guy's emotional energy and output, none of which I feel was contrived, at the end of the first song alone is tantamount to an entire set(s) of other bands. I included "Patience" because that first lyric "Wanting to understand...To understand a hand that's not my hand" encapsulates what it is to be a human, the desire to empathize, comprehend and make sense of others actions and thoughts.
