Jonathon Lundberg is the parent of two schoolcage children and a resident of Firhouse in South Dublin. He invited CouncilMatters to visit and hear the views of parents who support proposals to develop two new schools for the area. Jonathon shares some background information to the current controversy and acknowledges the concerns of the residents who are fearful of losing some existing public open spaces. He laments that the issue has developed in a partisan manner, as all sides agree on the need for more educational resources in Firhouse and educational diversity for the area would also appear to be widely welcomed. Jonathon relates to presenter Mick FitzGerald his reasons for seeking to have his children educated through the medium of the Gaelic language. He details how he and other parents who seek to have their children enrol in the proposed Educate Together school are hostages to fortune at the hands of their Dept. of Education and South Dublin County Council. Jonathon Lundberg summarises the only objectives of his group are to be good parents, good neighbours and good citizens! An edited audio version of this interview was broadcast on CouncilMatters on Dublin City-fm on 2/December/2015.
