==Phase 1 (starting from scratch)== 1. Arrange 5 empty plots in a plus shape (center + 4 adjacent, slightly space center from outer 4). 2. Buy 5 fresh tulip seeds from NPC. (If you have any already, plant them in empty plot and recycle the plot to destroy them) 3. Plant all 5 seeds, water all 5, fertilize optionally for speed. Wait for growth. ==Phase 2 (purple hunting)== 1. Harvest a single flower while watching the left side of the screen to see the flower's rarity (not the seed) is purple, press J to view system log if you miss it 2. If not purple, plant seed in an empty plot and recycle that plot using the H menu to dispose of it. 3. If purple, plant in empty plot and move that plot to the center of a new plus formation of plots. 4. Water and fertilize the purple-yielding seed, buy 4 fresh tulip seeds from NPC and ONLY water them (this ensures the middle finishes first) 5. If you don't get a black flower in the outer 4 in about 4 generations, use a different purple-rarity flower starter ==Phase 3 (getting more black flowers)== 1. When you get a black flower move it to the center of a new plus formation of plots and never pick it 2. Buy 4 fresh tulip seeds from NPC while you have none and plant in 4 outer plots in the plus shape 3. Water and use fertilizer if you want (fertilizer via alt is better for cost-savings) Note: Unsure how much better getting fresh seeds is every time compared to just replanting what you get, the seed purge is a time consuming and tedious step, it might be fine to only purge the green rarity and just replant blue/purple ones immediately.
