Social anxiety disorder is a prevalent condition characterized by fear, anxiety, and worries about social situations. People with social anxiety tend to interpret ambiguous social cues in a negative way, which reinforces a vicious cycle of worry and anxiety. In this video, I provide an overview of social anxiety and discuss the differences with introversion. I also describe the cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, which consists of cognitive reframing exercises and exposure exercises.
