SKY DESIGN AWARDS 2020 GOLD Winner Tokyo Kaikan is one of Japan's leading social facilities, originally established on the edge of the Imperial Palace grounds in 1922.As a world-class social gathering place for the public, this project is the third generation of the main building and includes a wedding chapel as part of the masterplan. The ceremony, in which a couple exchanges vows with the blessings of their close friends and family, is a special and emotional moment. The chapel will be an important place with special feelings that will forever remain in the memories of the couple. In the third-generation Tokyo Kaikan, which has a history of 100 years, there is "history, tradition, and ceremonies". These aspects are suitable for the stage of the special ceremonies that take place, with a unique view overlooking the Imperial Palace forest. We thought the best way to make the most of this stage was to admire the transition of time and the four seasons, and the embodiment of Japanese aesthetics. These blend the beauty of the inside and outside world by blurring the boundaries to create the space as an orthodox “Japanese chapel”. Interior Design : Nikken Space Design 　Yoshihiro Yamamoto, Satoshi Ohashi Cinematographer : Yuta Ishii, Satoshi Saida, Mitsunori Matsuda 東京會舘は、世界に誇れる誰もが利用できる民衆のための社交場として、1922年に皇居のほとりに誕生した日本を代表する社交施設の一つであり、本プロジェクトは、その本館の三代目の建替えにともなう新たな婚礼用のチャペルの計画となる。 親しい人々に祝福されながら結婚を誓うセレモニーは特別で感動的な瞬間であり、その舞台となるチャペルは、二人の記憶の中に永遠に残り続ける特別な思いがこもった大切な場となる。 100年の歴史を刻む三代目の新東京會舘には、その特別なセレモニーの舞台にふさわしい「歴史、伝統、格式」と、皇居の森を望むという特別な「景」が存在する。この舞台を最大限に生かすために最適と考えたのは、時や四季の移ろいを愛で、内と外の境界をあいまいにして双方の美しさを溶け合わせた「日本的美意識」を体現した、正統な「日本のチャペル」としての空間を創出する事である。 インテリアデザイン：日建スペースデザイン　山本祥寛、大橋伶史 映像デザイン：石井雄太、齊田悟之
