Weather: Another Storm is On our Radar | Tuesday's Sacramento & Sierra weather forecast Periods of heavy rain and snow will continue Tuesday with a slight chance of thunderstorms. A few showers linger early Wednesday before clearing. Temperatures will only warm to near 60° in the valley on Tuesday. That's a solid 20 degrees below average! Along with periods of rain, this is going to feel more like December. The cold air with this low pressure system will bring snow levels down to near 5500-6500 feet. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect above 6500 feet until 5am Wednesday for the west slope of the northern Sierra Nevada. Total snow accumulation will reach 4-8 inches along Interstate 80 and Highway 50. South of Highway 50 those totals could reach 1-2 feet. Plan for dangerous road conditions in the mountains. The heaviest snow will fall overnight Monday into Tuesday. Expect chain controls and possible road closures due to spinouts. Valley rainfall totals range from 1.00-1.50"+ in the valley for rain with the totals dropping off to the south.
