Friends, Let's take a sentimental journey and crack open a time capsule from 1942.... Three Nuns Empire Blend pipe tobacco from J. & F. Bell! This was a sister blend offered along with the original Three Nuns mixture. The distinctive difference between the two blends from my understanding is that the Original blend contained Perique and the Empire blend used Empire Virginias from Africa instead of Perique. I was very excited to open this Wartime treasure. The smell out of the tin was very earthy and grassy. Due to the nature of the style tin, there was very little moisture upon opening. I will be giving these delightful little coins a much needed drink via rehydration prior to fully enjoying. I'm confident they will come back to life enough to make for a satisfying smoke from yesteryear. Empire Blend remained on the market for several decades.
