PRICELESS!!! This is a St. Louis TV report from April 1988 by John Pertzborn and was done around the time of Bruce's TOL show there on 4/17/88. The clip details the legendary movie theatre encounter and home visit with Bruce and the Satanovskys (Steve, Lisa and their mother, Sophie) the night before the show. For years, due mostly to Dave Marsh's article back then, where Bruce mistakenly recalls it happened in Denver, which they did play just after St. Louis, both in Oct. 1980 & again in Jan. 1981, it's been wrongly attributed to Denver, when it really happened in St. Louis. The movie was Woody Allen's Stardust Memories, which came out on 9/26/80. While the clip's reporter says the encounter was in 1981, which would have made the date 1/27/81 - as I listed it - and would be the day after the Notre Dame show and also the day before his St. Louis show, later sources seem to have a better claim that it actually happened earlier, on 10/16/80, the day off before the 1st of 2 St. Louis shows. The latter date makes more sense since the movie had just come out and was more likely to still be in the theatres 3 weeks later than it would be almost 4 months later in Jan. 1981. Regardless, it happened in St. Louis and not Denver, as Dave Marsh's article had it from Bruce's faulty memory. And this is THE Sophie who Bruce dedicated Twist And Shout to several times, at the top of his lungs, in St. Louis on 8/23/08.. The back story was that Bruce was spotted buying popcorn at a Woody Allen movie in St. Louis the night before his show by Steven & Lisa Satanovsky, who approached him and asked if he wanted to sit with them. Bruce, said "Yes." After the movie was over, he asked for change to call a cab. Thus, Marsh's article is also wrong that Bruce had rented a car - which never made since anyway. Instead, Steve & Lisa offered him a ride to his hotel but asked him if he would mind stopping by their house first. Bruce said, "okay." Steve & Lisa had a tough time convincing their Mom, Sophie, that it really was Bruce! Steve 1st pulled out album covers, then finally Bruce had to pull out his driver's license, credit cards, etc. before Sophie was convinced. Sophie fixed him dinner from left overs. Bruce called his Mom and both Moms chatted and Bruce wanted his Mom to know he had a home cooked meal. You even see his paper with his Mother's phone number back then on it.
