Our first day was the best powder day of the year as Japan has been slow to start this year, and we woke the next day to blue skies and no wind. So on a bit of a whim, but not really, we run into Niseko to pick up some snow shoes and shoot out to the base of Mount Yotei. The mountain is over 1800m and starts near sea level, it's a pretty good haul and in hindsight one that we should have started a little bit early as you'll see. The first 2/3 is pretty mellow rising up through the trees and bamboo but then it start to get steeper and steeper, with the last section turning into a maelstrom of madness, Just an incredible day and one that I won't forget for everything we experienced throughout the day.
