At Boulder Crest’s 3rd Annual New York Benefit held on September 18th, George Logothetis, Chairman of Libra Philanthropies and Executive Chairman of Libra Group, delivered an inspiring keynote address titled "Posttraumatic Growth: Finding Purpose Through Trauma." Before an audience of over 700 people, including members of the U.S. military, veterans, first responders, and their families, George emphasized that through perseverance and the help of others, one can experience life-changing, positive growth after trauma. Reflecting on his grandfather’s generation, George remarked on how they silently served and endured great pain - support was not available then. He described the concept of Posttraumatic Growth (PTG), the notion that a life-changing, deeper sense of strength and purpose can emerge after a significant challenge or crisis. This revelatory idea that negative experiences can spur positive change is central to Boulder Crest’s work with U.S. servicepeople. “PTG, not PTSD.” George also talked about the power of resilience, noting that the pain of trauma is “not necessarily a permanent barrier, but a scaffolding that can enable growth.” He shared his lifelong realization that while we cannot control our life challenges, we can choose how to respond to them. This includes seeking help and always maintaining hope. It also includes finding purpose, including through service to others.
