Oddly enough, this technique first developed by saltwater fisherman, has been popularized by the bass fishing community. Here you'll learn the simple method of tying one of your new favorite riggings. (00:00) Step 1: Start on the same side as the point of the hook. Run your line through the eye of the hook giving yourself enough line to work with. (00:07) Step 2: Then go back through the eye of the hook so you've now doubled the line. (00:15) Step 3: Now simply tie a single overhand knot and hold the tag end. Do not tighten the knot all the way down. (00:30) Step 4: Take the loop you just formed and pass the hook back through it. Hold the tag end and the hook, wet the knot and pull everything tightly together making sure to pull everything evenly. You have know tied a Palmar knot. (00:54) Step 5: Instead of cutting off the tag end, pass it back through the eye of the hook again on the same side the point is found. Pull the tag through. You have now created the dropper line that you will attach your weight to. (1:11) Step 6: Before you attach your weight, roll the knot into the centre of the eye on the hook. This will help position your hook horizontal on the line. (1:21) Step 7: Now attach your weight onto the dropper tag. In this situation we've used an actual drop shot weight that has a built in swivel and can easily be adjusted up or down the dropper without having to cut the line or tie another knot to secure it in place. It also allows you to adjust the distance from your hook to the weight quickly depending on the height you require.
