Order your MESA/Boogie Mark VII from Guitar Center today: https://www.guitarcenter.com/Mesa-Boo... The new MESA/Boogie Mark VII is the latest, greatest and most versatile edition of the acclaimed Mark Series of guitar amps—a tone quest launched by Boogie founder Randall Smith inside a little music store with a hippy-esque name (Prune Music) in Mill Valley, California, circa 1972. MESA/Boogie’s previous Mark Series debut was the Mark V ten years ago, and a lot has happened since then. In fact, there was a Mark VI prototype that was tested for two years but never released, and the discoveries made throughout the VI project were extensive enough that MESA/Boogie opted to recognize the amp’s evolution with the Mark VII designation. Here to explain the development of the Mark VII is long-time Boogie Tone Lab director Doug Smith. Smith plays through some of the nine preamp modes (which include a “throwback” Mark IIB and a new Mark VII mode that’s cross between a Mark sound and a Boogie Dual Rectifier); describes the benefits of the Mark VII’s pure, simple and direct circuit path; details the amp’s configurable three channels; talks about the return to the original Mark Series chassis for improved portability; and more.
