Construction update for Animal Kingdom featuring Pandora: The Land of Avatar & more. Kali River Rapids closed for annual refurbishment. Follow updates at my new site: http://orlandoparkstop.com Pandora: The World of Avatar, a new immersive themed land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will include two new rides, a restaurant and at least one gift shop. The area is based on the 2009 film “Avatar” by James Cameron. It will feature a storyline that takes place a few years after the events of the first film where Pandora has recovered from the war with humans and is now welcoming guests. Festive, colorful buildings reuse the ruins left over from the war. Guests are transported to Pandora by Alpha Centauri Expeditions, who is offering tours of the now peaceful planet. Flight of Passage is rumored to be a 3D simulator ride while the Na’Vi River Journey will be a more relaxing dark ride through the jungles of Pandora filled with bioluminescent plants, AA figures, and state of the art projections similar to Pirates of the Caribbean in Shanghai. Kali River Rapids is closed for its annual refurbishment and is scheduled to re-open sometime in the Spring. The water has been drained from the ride as part of the rehab. The new monkey enclosure at the Maharajah Jungle Trek is now open featuring lion-tailed macaques. We also check out the completed Rivers of Light stadium seating, effects, projectors and boats. This yet-to-open show incorporates music, special effects, water projections and boats featuring a story based on animal folklore. It’s meant to celebrate the natural world and will utilize unseen footage from Disneynature documentaries. There’s still no official start date announced for the ambitious new show, but all signs point to either April for Animal Kingdom's anniversary, or whenever Pandora opens.
