This lovely looking Leedy kit from 1936 was also a lovely kit to play. I particularly enjoyed improvising on the 5 Temple Blocks and 4 Chinese Tom Toms plus I thought the bass drum sounded wicked! For some unknown reason when I sat behind this drum set I started to play a New Orleans 'Second Line' groove. I also started with the Lowboy emulating marching cymbals on the down-beats before later switching to off-beats. Anyway I carried on having some fun for a minute and a half before a cymbal came off in my hand ha, ha,...what can you do, just laugh eh? ...I did! As a point of interest, the museum owner, Tim Northup, has the original receipt for this set which cost $166 in 1936. The beautiful factory painted bass drum head shows a Dutch Windmill scene which would have cost around $15 extra at the time for this 'Full Dress Outfit'. There is also a photo of the proud owner taken in the same year and it would appear that the kit only had one Chinese Tom Tom back then. Anyway I hope you enjoy the video and had a laugh with me at the end. If you did then please don't forget to like and subscribe. Cheers for now Sticky
