Black and White memories of my first independant transport as a teenager. It was a very different world back then in the 1950s! The annual road tax for my first scooter, I remember was 17/6 which was less than £1! Scooters seemed like a breath of fresh air especially to the younger generation. In this video you can see various models of the Italian Vespa and Lambretta scooters which were the most popular, the Geman Maicoletta, Diana, TWN (Hercules), NSU, and Heinkel, the Austrian Puch, Italian Iso and British Piatti, DKR and Dayton. .Back in the 1990s i restored another Piatti and a Dayton together with several other classic scooters..
