Newsweek has recently released a list of the world’s 250 best hospitals, sparking an uproar among medical staff at Taiwanese hospitals. Only one Taiwanese hospital, National Taiwan University Hospital, was on the list and it came in at No. 249. The health minister, Hsueh Jui-yuan, said he could only comment once he understood the performance indicators Newsweek used when ranking global hospitals.
