The Foundation Stone Meditation of Rudolf Steiner: in 1923 at the Christmas Foundation meeting, Rudolf Steiner presented a "Spiritual Foundation Stone: the Dodecahedron of the Human Being", as he called it, which was to initiate a new phase in the revelation of the Mysteries of mankind. THe meditation is mantric, that is, a spiritual revelation in which sound, form and rhythm integrate with the esoteric meaning which lies in layers of evocative multiplicity. -Daisy Aldan. "Human Soul," we hear three times. The human soul is going to give birth to the child, to the higher Self. There are three exercises: "Practice spirit-recalling and thou will truly live" to become aware of the whole evolution of mankind in which we have participated in, through recurring embodiments. "Practice spirit-sensing," the awareness of the moment of the here-and-now, in order that we begin to feel rightly. This means, I think, overcoming a certain sleepiness in the soul, by awakening to what lives in the moment as the interweaving between the earthly and the spiritual. "Practice spirit-beholding." Can we gaze into the future and grasp new perspectives? This leads to learning to think truly, an overcoming of the death of thought, of the corpse-like thinking in which all of us participate through our civilization and the forces of this age. The Meditation can be seen as a way to acquire the new soul forces that are needed. The illness, so to speak, is not described-- the fear, hate and doubt== but the healing element is emphasized, overcoming doubt, finding the courage to stand for that which is of the spirit, and to develop the love for these spiritual truths which we have recognized. -Rene Querido.
