"Kingdom Living" (9am) — Rev. Dr. Steve Sweet | Feb. 1, 2026

Welcome to the livestream worship and communion service at the historic Laguna Presbyterian Church in downtown Laguna Beach, California! May the Lord bless you in worship this day.  We continue our sermon series in the Gospel According to Matthew, "Discovering the Kingdom." Rev. Dr. Steve Sweet gives the message from Matthew 5:1-16 titled "Kingdom Living."   In this morning's Gospel reading, we learn from Jesus about the values of the Kingdom of God, which remain consistent with those taught by the prophets of ancient Israel. God values humility, gentleness, justice, and mercy far more than our attempts at personal piety or approval seeking. The values of the Kingdom of God stand in stark contrast to those of the world, which often prioritize power, strength, and individual success. In the Kingdom of God, true values are righteous living—embracing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God. May God grant us ears to hear.
