Making BORON from BORAX

In todays video i will be making the element boron First i dissolved 95g of borax in around 450ml of distilled water. Next i added a total of 65ml of 31% HCl. After that, i filtered of the formed boric acid and put it into a steel can. The can was heated untill no more boubeling was observed. The glass like substance (boron oxide) was removed from the can, crushed into a san and mixed with 5g excess of magnesium. Next the mixture was lit. The resulting slag was collected and washed with more HCl and afterwards water. Lastly the collected boron was dried. Saddly i think that when i added the HCl in 2 steps, quite a lot of NaCl allso precipitated, ruining any way of getting a pure product, wich resulted in a 316% yield. Chemicals used: 31% hydrochloric acid (HCl) Magnesium metal (shavings and small grains) Borax (sodium tetraborate - Na2B4O7) Distilled water I wouldnt recomend anyone using this as a tutorial both from the fact some chemicals used are quite dangerous and because my yield, as i mentioned, sucked.
