Брифинг, проводимый действующим Председателем Организации по безопасности и сотрудничеству в Европе

The Chairperson-in-Office (CiO) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) told the Security Council that “a terrible war rages in our yard, in Europe and in the OSCE area” and “the possible consequences of this war are grave enough to endanger peace and stability globally.” Bujar Osman, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, the country who assumed the Chairmanship of OSCE in January, briefed Council members about the relationship between the two organizations on Thursday (4 May). Speaking about the war in Ukraine, the Chairperson-in-Office said that “this aggression erodes the foundations of the organization by violating the provisions of the Helsinki Final Act” and “the Russian Federation blatantly violated fundamental principles of international law agreed upon all.” Osman continued, “As I started my address with the call for immediate action for peace, I'm using the opportunity to urge Russia once again to end this war and withdraw its troops from the sovereign territory of Ukraine. Immense damage has already been done in every additional day of aggression prolongs the human suffering.” For the Chairperson-in-Office, “accountability today is a moral imperative, as it is the most effective means to avoid this happening again in any other place.” Osman also said that “the world is facing unprecedented challenges, and the people are paying the price.” It is time for us to step up and take decisive action. We cannot afford to wait any longer while the suffering of the people continues. It has never been less about ideology, geopolitics or personal gain. It has never been more important to put at the forefront the wellbeing of the people. We cannot ignore the crisis was justice, freedom and dignity,” the minister said. Osman concluded, “We cannot turn a blind eye to human suffering or deny basic human rights. A collective action is needed now.”
