Here is my tribute for Obadiah Stane aka Iron Monger, my third favorite Iron Man villain after Madame Masque and Mandarin. I really like how he serves as an “evil Iron Man” as in he’s basically Tony Stark if he only cared about getting more and more power and money. He also reminds me of a lot of Norman Osborn who is my all-time favorite villain. The annoying thing about Stane though is that he’s one of the most underused comic villains I’ve ever seen. Despite being one of Iron Man’s arch-enemies he’s basically only shown up in one live-action movie and one cartoon show. I guess it’s because he only appeared in one arc in the comics and was then killed off and never brought back afterwards (and people say that death isn’t a thing in comic books) but that’s still not a good excuse to not use such an awesome villain more often. And speaking of the live-action movie version of him, well if you’re a long-time viewer on my channel you’ve probably figured out by now I’m not exactly a fan of the MCU’s villains...in fact you could say I hate almost all of them. However, today we have an exception as I not only like the MCU’s version of Iron Monger, I think he’s one of the best villains this universe has ever put out (I mean it). Yes I understand why a lot of people don’t like him in the movie, that version of him is an incredibly simple and almost cartoonish villain with a really generic goal to make himself lots of money selling weapons for Stark Industries. But the thing is that there is nothing about this character’s motivations that feels petty, delustional or fricking STUPID to me (like more than half of the MCU’s other villains), he’s basically just a pure evil bastard and is completely proud of it. It’s a perfectly logical character and plus there are probably tons of people who are just like him in real life. I mean yeah I almost always prefer complex villains but considering how terrible the MCU’s writing got in later movies I actually prefer simplicity in this case. In my opinion, almost all of the Phase One villains are better than the later MCU movie villains. The Armored Adventures version of him is also decent even if he was kinda boring for most of the show until his last episode and the Iron Monger armor design in that show is really stupid, it’s less of a suit and more like a walking building for some reason. Anyway that was my last video of 2020, uhhhhh it’s been a fun year I guess although from now on I think I only have time to make a maximum of one video per month. However, I do declare that next year will be the Year of the Peacock, if you know what I mean. Scenes: Iron Man(2008 movie and its tie-in video game), Iron Man: Armored Adventures Song: Had Enough by Breaking Benjamin
