It is one of the traditional authentic Bengali food mostly making for Bengali marriage party, Birthday party, Annaprashan and other occasions. Katla Macher Kalia is a very spicy gravy based Bengali fish recipe making with Katla Fish. We can serve this fish kalia for both lunch and dinner. Ingredients: Katla Fish - 500 gm Chopped Onion Onion Paste Ginger Paste Garlic Paste Bay Leaf Dry Red Chilli Cumin Seeds Garam Masala Turmeric Powder Red Chilli Powder Coriander Powder Cumin Powder Cashew Nuts Paste Plain Yogurt Tomato Paste Green Chilli Ghee Garam Masala Powder Salt Sugar Mustard Oil Methods of how to make Katla macher kalia: 1. At first add 1/2 tsp Salt and 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder on the fish. 2. Mix well and keep it aside for 5-10 mins. 3. Heat up a kadai and add Mustard Oil, fry the fishes in it. 4. Fry well both sides and take them out. 5. After frying keep 5 tbsp. Oil in the kadai. 6. Add Whole Garam Masala, 1/4 tsp White Cumin, 1 Dry Chilli,2 Bay Leaves, Chopped Onion. 7. Fry the Onion for 2-3 mins on medium flame. 8. After 2-3 mins add 1 medium size Onion Paste. 9. Fry for another 2 mins. 10. Now add 1 tsp Garlic Paste, 1 tsp Ginger Paste. 11. Fry for another 2 mins on medium flame. 12. After frying add 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder, 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder, 1 tsp Cumin Powder, 1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder. 13. Add 1/2 tsp Salt (as per taste), 1/2 tsp Sugar . 14. Fry the masala for 2 mins. 15. After frying add 1 medium size Tomato Paste. 16. Then cook for another 2 mins. 17. Now add 25 Cashew Nut's Paste, 2 tbsp. Yogurt, 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder. 18. Then cook for 1 minute. 19. After 1 minute add 1 cup Water. 20. When the gravy starts boiling turn the flame to low and add the fish. 21. Add 5 Sliced Green Chillies. 22. Cover and cook for 5 mins on medium flame. 23. After 5 mins turn the flame to high and add 1 tsp Ghee, 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder. 24. Our today's recipe Katla Kalia is ready.
