Casio G-Shock 2023 Mudman GW-9500 Love the Sea and the Earth Edition - In Depth Review

The Casio G-Shock GW-9500 Mudman was introduced in July 2023 with three models featuring different colors. One of those models, the GW-9500-1, has a positive LCD while the GW-9500-1A4 and the GW-9500-3 have negative LCD screens. (Positive LCDs have dark characters against a light background while negative LCDs have light characters against a dark background. Negative LCDs are also called Reverse LCDs.) The initial price of the GW-9500 was $380 but, after a few months on the market, it's possible to find them for less than that. The watch in this video is a fourth version of the GW-9500 and it's the GW-9500-KJ-3. It's a "Love the Sea the the Earth" edition in collaboration with Earthwatch Japan. The colors of the watch are inspired by the colors of the endangered Fiji Banded Inguana. This watch was first available to purchase in Japan in November 2023. All four versions of the GW-9500 are mud resistant with Carbon Core Guard material. They are water resistant with a 20 Bar or 200 Meter limit. They have the latest Triple Sensor which means the watch has a compass, barometer and thermometer. The barometer is also used for the watch's altimeter. The LCD is a dual-layer display with an overlay for compass functions and air pressure trends. The watch is solar powered with Casio's "Tough Solar" system. It has Multiband 6 reception for "atomic time" radio broadcasts so that the watch can keep itself accurate every night. (If Multiband 6 correction is unavailable then the watch will be accurate to plus-or-minus 15 seconds per month using its own quartz accuracy.) Multiband 6 can receive time corrections from any of 6 transmitters in the northern hemisphere, including one in China, two in Japan, WWVB from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Colorado, the MSF signal transmitted from Anthorn Radio Station in Cumbria (in the UK) and DCF77 at Mainflingen, Germany. Other features include a World Time mode, five alarms (one of which is a snooze alarm), an hourly chime, automatic LED backlight, a 24-hour countdown timer and a 1,000-hour stopwatch. The watch can display sunrise and sunset times for its time zone with a calibration of that data through user-adjusted Latitude and Longitude data. The GW-9500 uses module 3553.
