Giulianna Ruiz on getting into PE law, the growing importance of ESG & Trilantic's diversity efforts

In this installment of video voices Giulianna Ruiz, a Partner and General Counsel at Trilantic North America, shares how her early mentors played an integral role in her pursuing the field of private equity. As a summer associate during law school, a mentor took her under his wing and showed her how private equity law is “a fun area of law where you can act as a business partner as well as a legal partner.” She goes on to discuss the differences between private equity firms and law firms and shares how at Trilantic she went from focusing on just law to being integrated into all of the middle market growth investor’s business practices. Giulianna also discusses the growing importance of ESG, Trilantic’s efforts to increase industry diversity, and how they are partnering with Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business to help create a gender equity curriculum and a workshop on ESG.
