EPA developed the WaterSense Water Budget Tool, Version 2.0 to help builders, developers, landscape designers, irrigation professionals, and other interested parties improve water efficiency through landscape and irrigation design. In this course, we will go through an in-depth review of Version 2.0 of this tool and take you through a series of demonstration exercises to show how the tool works in practice. This course will help you understand the functionality of the tool, how it uses local climate data and user entries to compare estimated water use for a designed landscape to one using practices typical of standard new construction, and how you can use it to make landscape and irrigation choices that reduce water use and utility costs. The WaterSense Water Budget Tool can be used to comply with LEED certification for residential and to ensure a measure of efficiency and regional suitability for the amount of water applied to a landscape based on local climate data. Download the waterbudget and follow along here https://www.epa.gov/watersense/water-... *Note: As of right now, LEED Residential is not accepting this version 2 due to issues with the lack of irrigation water and is evaluating this tool, so please note you must still continue to use Version 1 for LEED residential certification, but the information can be used as a guide from V2.
