EnVentus prototype installed, produces first kWh

Vestas has installed the first EnVentus platform prototype at the Østerild National test centre in Denmark. Stretching 230m into the air, the V150-5.6 MW prototype has now produced its first kilowatt hour of electricity and will undergo an extensive test and verification programme. The V150-5.6 MW prototype nacelle and blades were developed and produced at Vestas’ factories in Ringkøbing and Lem. Serial production is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2020. Every year, one EnVentus V150-5.6 MW will prevent 7,500 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere. This is equivalent to removing five thousand passenger cars from the road every year.
