Day 1 begins at the edge of suburbia in Shankill, quickly climbing into the ancient woodland of Rathmichael and along the forested flanks of Carrickgollogan Hill. From there, the trail enters the uplands proper, passing scenic overlooks above Dublin Bay and through the wind-swept heights of Three Rock and Two Rock mountains. The journey ends at the summit of Fairy Castle, an ancient cairn with panoramic views across Wicklow, Dublin, and the Irish Sea.
