Verse 1 (For the syllable 'Na' - न) नागेन्द्रहाराय त्रिलोचनाय, भस्माङ्गरागाय महेश्वराय। नित्याय शुद्धाय दिगम्बराय, तस्मै 'न'काराय नमः शिवाय॥ Nagendra Haraya Trilochanaya, Bhasmanga Ragaya Maheshwaraya. Nityaya Shuddhaya Digambaraya, Tasmai 'Na' karaya Namah Shivaya. Meaning: Salutations to Shiva, who wears the king of snakes as a garland, the three-eyed god, whose body is smeared with ashes, the great Lord. Mandara Pushpa Bahu Pushpa Supujitaya, Tasmai 'Ma' karaya Namah Shivaya. Meaning: Salutations to Shiva, who is worshipped with water from the Mandakini river and sandalwood paste, the Lord of Nandi and the ghosts/goblins. Worshipped with Mandara and other various flowers, I bow to the syllable 'Ma'. Verse 3 (For the syllable 'Shi' - शि) शिवाय गौरीवदनाब्जवृन्दसूर्याय दक्षाध्वरनाशकाय। श्रीनीलकण्ठाय वृषध्वजाय, तस्मै 'शि'काराय नमः शिवाय॥ Shivaya Gauri Vadanabja Vrinda Suryaya, Dakshadhwara Nashakaya. Chandrarka Vaishwanara Lochanaya, Tasmai 'Va' karaya Namah Shivaya. Meaning: Salutations to Shiva, who is worshipped by the best and most respected sages like Vashistha, Agastya, and Gautama, and the gods. To the one who has the sun, moon, and fire as his three eyes, I bow to the syllable 'Va'. Verse 5 (For the syllable 'Ya' - य) यक्षस्वरूपाय जटाधराय, पिनाकहस्ताय सनातनाय। दिव्याय देवाय दिगम्बराय, तस्मै 'य'काराय नमः शिवाय॥ Yaksha Swarupaya Jata Dharaya, Pinaka Hastaya Sanatanaya. Divyaya Devaya Digambaraya, Tasmai 'Ya' karaya Namah Shivaya. Meaning: Salutations to Shiva, who takes the form of a Yaksha, has matted hair, holds the Pinaka bow in his hand, and is eternal.
