Thanks to Drop for sponsoring this video by providing all products shown in the video! I was really excited to get my hands on this keyboard as it would be my first time using an HHKB layout and it was also awesome for Drop to approach me! First impressions of the keyboard is that it's a sleek looking keyboard and I really love how it looks. The additional underglow acrylic diffusor lighting compliments the keycaps so well and overall just looks amazing. In terms of the typing feel, it's really stiff since it's hard aluminum, but since I'm using tactiles in here, it's not that big of an issue for me. Another thing to mention is the sound profile as it's extremely hollow, but because this is a keyboard kit, you can mod it to your liking to fix any sound issues that you may personally have with this board. I'm pretty happy with what came out in the end, although I need to find the time to lube these switches soon. Speaking about the switches, the Everglide Oreos are very nice tactile switches, though they're more on the lighter side and I prefer heavier switches. They are pretty identical to Durock T1s as I'm pretty sure that they use the exact same stem. The stock stabilizers surprised me as I was going to assume that even with mods they would still suck, but I was proven wrong. There is barely any rattle with them with the mods and I'm really glad I didn't have to look into buying any replacement stabilizers. The biggest drawback for me about this keyboard was the assembly. It's pretty easy to put this keyboard together, but I had struggles trying to fit switches into the place as it was extremely tight along with not being able to have switches lining up to the PCB properly. I had a lot of bent pins and even tried to look up a solution and found out that to assemble the keyboard properly, you have to line up the PCB into the case by putting switches onto the plate first. It wasn't a big deal, but definitely spent a lot more time trying to put together the keyboard than I should have. I forgot to mention that I also put O-Rings onto the standoff screws for the keyboard, but wasn't sure if it really did much to improve sound or feel. Overall, I really enjoyed using this keyboard and the build process wasn't even all that bad. I was excited to try this keyboard out along with the other parts that I received from Drop. I would 100% recommend this keyboard to anybody that wants to try out an HHKB layout keyboard as this is very budget friendly and is a keyboard kit, so you have full customization over it.
